2006 My first attempt at an impromptu portrait. The great thng about Fantasy and Reniassance Fairs is everyone in costume seems thrilled to pose. I learned later, seldom are the characters at these events given copies of pictures taken of them.
The Siren's Smile
2007 -- sitting in a "Beer Garden" with a friend, this fascinating lady happened to walk by. This has to be the best "snap shot" I have ever taken with a digital camera, or any camera for that matter.
Green Harem Girl
2006 this Entertainer was so deep in concentration she never knew I was there. Digital camera, filter & Photoshop.
The Entertainer
2006 was a year of discovery for me. I discovered an environment rich in costumed players, in character and interfacing with all about them -- most called this event the 2006 Washington State Rebaissance Faire, I called it a treasure trove of rich opportunity. Umberella Girl was posing for her boy friend, but I think I had the better angle.
Umberella Girl
The 2006 Washington State Renaissance and Fantasy Faire introuduced to semi-candid photo opportunities in an environment rich with vivid costumes, actors in character and endless photo opportunities. In 2006 I photographed the Pixie, in 2007, purely by accident I met and photographed the Pixie's mother.
The Pixie
2007 Washington State Fantasy and Renaissance Fair was filled with photo ops. While at a fencing demonstration, the Queen looked my way. This is one of the best candid, impromptu portraits I have ever taken. Digital Image, filters, Photoshop gave me this image. The Queen made it Regal.
H.R.H. The Queen
2007 -- Taking images at a Renaisannce and Fantasy Faire forces a photographer to be ever alert and ready to react quickly when an opportunity presents itself. Digital Image, filters and Photoshop -- and, most of all, a great actress make this image work.
Mystic Playful Nymph
2007 -- A little Photoshop magic, a fascinating subject and some time helped turn day to night and make the Pixie appear truly magical.
Pixie Moon
2006 Washington State Renaissance and Fantasy Faire presented endless challenges and opportunities. I chased this Nymph about the Faire all day and she joyfully avoided capture in my "magic box". She happened next to me, in yet another attempt to tease, and I captured her. 2006 -- Stalking is generally a term to be avoided in our society, but I know no other word to use to describe the effort that went in to capturing this totally unposed digital image. Filters and Photoshop completed the presentation. <empty>
