I consider myself lucky to be a photo finatic living in the Pacific North West. Since the subject matter I like best to photograph ranges from the coastal environment to seascapes and from boats that sail on the ocean to animals who live in it, I am alwayds happy I am here.
My emphasis for photo road trips right now is the Oregon Coast. From Fort Stevens State Park in the north stretching south to Winchuck State Recreation Site almost at the California border, as well as throughout the rest of the state, Oregon has a proliferation of state parks ranging from day use only, to camping, to camping in cabins, TP's and yurts.
Park fees are reasonable, accommodations are generally good to excellent and photo ops in and around the parks are spectacular.
If you are planning on an unforgetable photo road trip, my choice is the Oregon Coast. I would plan to stay in state parks. Warning: the facilities in the parks are popular (year ‘round), especially the yurts, so plan ahead and make reservations early. By early, you may want to reserve as much as 9 months in advance to assure getting the accommodations you desire.
So far, I have a few favorite spots, but I haven't visited all the parks yet. In the left column of this page there are several links to Oregon State Parks, as well as some of my current choices for great photo ops with sample photos (links to individual coastal park sites included). The Oregon coast has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to photo ops, great campsites and parks with fantastic scenery, and Washington State isn't that far behind.
I am trying to keep my entries short and easy to read. If you have any questions about Oregon Parks and potential photo locations, feel free to drop me an e-mail. If I don't know the answer, I will do my best to find one for you, or a site with the information you are seeking. |
